Work Readiness Program Information

The current School to Work initiative for the Kern County SHRM Chapter is focused on the Virtual Enterprise program that is coordinated by the Kern High School District.

Virtual Enterprise, or VE, is an international organization that involves students, primarily high school students, in the set-up and operation of their own businesses. These virtual businesses interact with one another, much the same as real businesses do, to provide or obtain the goods and services necessary to maintain smooth and profitable operations. Not only do they deal with many of the same problems as real businesses, but each student employee must also learn to handle their own personal finances and what it takes to successfully function in the real world.

Visit Virtual Enterprise to check out some of the virtual businesses and for information on upcoming events. Volunteers are always welcome. We guarantee the young people you meet in the program will positively impress you.
